New Park Property Considered by City Council

Home News List New Park Property Considered by City Council

Shelton, WA — The Shelton City Council is considering the donation of 14 acres of undeveloped property adjacent to Bayview Ave. for future park use.  At the September 17 City Council meeting staff presented the proposal from the Capitol Land Trust to accept the property donation that once was owned by the Angle family.

The property is currently wooded with mature, native vegetation and social trails that have been developed by neighborhood residents and animals alike.  Future uses include formalization of the trail system to meet passive recreation needs in the community, provide open space, habitat preservation, interpretive signage, and water quality protection for Goldsborough Creek.

Park projects are funded through the Shelton Metropolitan Parks District and guided by the Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Plan.  Trail development has ranked at the top of desired amities in the plan and community surveys for over 20 years.

Public comment is sought on this proposal.  Please contact: Mark Ziegler, Community Development Director, mark.ziegler@sheltonwa.gov,360.432.5194
