Animal Control
Please Note: Effective Thursday, March 7, 2024, the Shelton Animal Shelter is at capacity. We cannot accept any additional strays or surrenders at this time.
Shelton's Animal Control officers protect public and private property by helping to provide a safe environment for both residents and their pets. These officers also manage operations of the Shelton Animal Shelter, located at 902 West Pine Street. Our Animal Control partners with several local organizations to coordinate support and adoption of dogs, including Adopt-a-Pet and the Kitsap County Humane Society.

Hours of Operation
The Shelton Animal Shelter will be open by appointment only from Monday, March 11 through Friday, March 22. If you need to make an appointment during this time, please call 360-432-5176. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Monday - Friday: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. (Closed from 3 - 4 p.m.)
Saturday - Sunday: Open by appointment only

Donations: The Animal Shelter accepts donations of food, treats, collars, and leashes. If you'd like to donate to the Animal Shelter, please contact us for more information and to coordinate drop-off. Thank you for your support!

Licenses
Every dog over 6 months old residing within Shelton city limits must be licensed and have current rabies shots.
The animal license fee is $30 per calendar year. There is a $5 discount for spayed/neutered dogs, no fee for service dogs, and seniors (65 or older) can receive a 50% discount on licensing. If your dog is microchipped, you can apply for a lifetime animal license for $100.
License applications should be turned in to Customer Service, located on the second floor of the Civic Center, at 525 West Cota Street.
