Report a Water Issue Online

The water division maintains and services three wells, four booster pump stations, and five City reservoirs that store a total of 2.2 million gallons of high-quality drinking water. They also operate and maintain the potable (safe drinking water) and non-potable (not of drinking quality, but safe for other uses) water distribution system. The water division constantly monitors and regulates water use and production citywide to ensure we're able to meet the demands of the City while maintaining necessary reserves for fire flow storage and emergency needs.

Your Water System, By the Numbers
The City's water system is comprised of:
  • 598 fire hydrants
  • 4,125 water service meters
  • 956 valves
  • 4,815 linear feet of non-potable mainline piping
  • 316,133 linear feet of potable mainline piping
Water Conservation
People in northwestern Washington are often seen as leaders on conservation issues. We live in a spectacular part of the country, and we do what we can to ensure it stays that way. Although we're known for our abundant rainfall, managing our water resources and infrastructure is critical to our community's safety and health.

Water Conservation, By the Numbers
  • 2.5 gallons - The amount of water per person much of the world is allocated.
  • 400 gallons - The amount of water per person used by the average American; 30% of this is used for outdoor purposes (such as watering the lawn)
  • 70% - The amount of worldwide water use that is allocated to farming.
    • Most of these farming irrigation systems operate at only 40% efficiency
  • Small drips or leaks around your home can be big water wasters. A pinhole-sized leak can waste as much as 70 gallons a day. That adds up to more than 25,000 gallons a year!
Water Conservation Tips
  • When washing dishes by hand, don't let the water run while rinsing. Fill one sink with wash water, and the other with rinse water.
  • Some refrigerators, air conditioners, and ice makers are cooled with wasted water flows. Consider upgrading with air-cooled appliances for significant water savings.
  • Adjust sprinklers so only your lawn is watered and not your house, sidewalk, or street.
