Shelton, WA – On Friday, August 23, 2019, the City of Shelton Public Works Department and PUD 3 will be working together to remove a cedar tree located at 236 West Birch Street. The removal of the tree is necessary in order to preserve and protect the investment of public money in new streets and sidewalks constructed in the area, as well as other city infrastructure. As trees age, growing roots have the potential to shift adjacent infrastructure causing damage to City streets and sidewalks, as well as creating tripping hazards. The City of Shelton values our trees and we have programs in place to help protect this natural resource, but public safety and preserving city infrastructure continues to be an on-going commitment.
The 200 block of West Birch Street will be closed and detours will be in place to allow for City crews and PUD 3 to perform the necessary work.
