Shelton, WA — The City of Shelton is currently updating the Parks, Recreation, Open Space and Trails (PROST) Plan in order to provide the City with a “road map” for decision makers to follow and help ensure that the right actions are taken for the right reasons at the right time.

Public participation has been the driving force behind the PROST plan and the ideas, goals, and objectives presented within. This update effort was first announced to the Shelton community at Spotlight Shelton in May 2019.

Since that time, we have fielded hundreds of comments from across the community with ideas ranging in scale from minor facility-specific updates to citywide objectives. Each comment, recommendation, insight, and idea has factored into the 2019 PROST Plan Draft.

The October Spotlight Shelton forum marked the kickoff of a 30-day public draft review, where the community is invited to review the entire draft plan and offer additional comments.

Plan-specific comments can be directed to Community Development Director Mark Ziegler by phone at (360) 432-5194 or by e-mail at Comments can also be submitted in person to the Parks and Recreation Department, located on the second floor of the Shelton Civic Center.

The PROST Plan can be found here. Comments must be submitted before November 29, 2019.
