Safe Routes to School Projects Begin Construction Monday

Work is set to begin on three Safe Routes to School projects in Shelton on Monday, March 25. The Safe Routes to School projects will help improve safety and mobility for children by enabling and encouraging them to walk or bike to school. The contractor for this project is Barcott Construction.

Construction is currently scheduled to last through late May.

The Safe Routes to School projects will be happening at the following locations:
  • North 9th Street between West Franklin Street and the alley to the south
  • Intersection of West Franklin and North 7th Streets
  • Existing pedestrian crossing across Shelton Springs Road, just north of the south driveway for Shelton High School
As the Safe Routes to School project begins, there will be associated lane closures or other traffic impacts. You can find more information on those, as they're scheduled, at sheltonwa.gov/roadclosures.
